As obstacles and rejections in life close doors and opportunities disappear or are postponed, it is easy for a servant leader to become emotional and feel disappointed, especially when a lot of effort, energy, prestige, and time have been invested both professionally and personally. You can also control your energy level to a certain point. Just remember, leadership is not about you; it’s about being present, truth-seeking, and serving others to strive for and achieve excellence. If you fail, learn from it and change. If you succeed with your Servant leadership, learn from it and share the tacit knowledge and experience with the next generation, and transform your understanding of success into kindness and humility. Or, as George Bernard Shaw stated, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
