As Maya Angelou famously said, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” As a Servant leader, you control how you lead, how you inspire, and how you communicate. You can also control your energy level to a certain point. Just remember, leadership is not about you; it’s about being present, truth-seeking, and serving others to strive for and achieve excellence. If you fail, learn from it and change. If you succeed with your Servant leadership, learn from it and share the tacit knowledge and experience with the next generation, and transform your understanding of success into kindness and humility. Or, as George Bernard Shaw stated, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions,
and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all
that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and honesty.”

(1 Timothy 2:1-2), King James Version (KJV)

From a servant leadership point of view I always try to understand and acknowledge the people I have the priviliege to serve. Every second in life both personal and professional should be a second of taking on step towards their goals. If they strive at work. Our organisation will so too. Or as C.S. Lewis wisley said it: “It is easy to acknowledge, but almost impossible to realize for long, that we are mirrors whose brightness, if we are bright, is wholly derived from the sun that shines upon us.”
